Life is Better with Spunk and a shout out to..

Last week's challenge was to participate in a family technology detox. I tried. Oh, how I tried...and I failed. As much as I wanted to, packages needed to be sent and emails needed to be read in order to find the addresses for the lovely packages.

Hunk had a migraine all day and I was bored out of my loving mind.  So, I watched an episode of Hoarders.  Because of this, I suddenly had the motivation to clean my house. If you've seen the show then you know what I mean.
Really, the excuses kept piling up for my use of technology over the weekend.

It seemed like the more I tried to avoid technology the more I needed it this weekend. So I hope your family tech detox turned out better than mine. I may try to do it in the future, most likely on a weekend when there are no season finales....

:)

Anywho, this week's challenge is to buy something you want. Yes, ladies I give y'all permission to buy something you want, not something you need. In our house the most common phrase is, "Do you need it? Or do you just want it?" My reply is often, "Of course I need it, because I want it." That used to fly as an excuse, but Hunk has become much the wiser these days after four years of marriage.

Seriously though, buy something for yourself. It doesn't have to be large or extravagant, just something that is all yours.
These babies may or may not be "the something I need"...

White Trash Trailer Bash

posted on: Monday, June 6, 2011

In college my parents bought a trailer for my two sisters and me to live in--the hope was that it would be a  good character building experience.

We learned how to tar the roof, unthaw frozen pipes, chase the neighborhood geese from our lawn, and we even invested in a nice set of pink flamingos--where there at now I have no idea.

The experience was character building and awesome!

Yes, awesome. I don't think it could have been better. We had huge sleepovers, bombin' bbqs, great birthday parties, and tons of fun times in the trailer.

Alas, my baby sister has graduated from college so the fine trailer has now been sold.

Sad day I tell ya.

But to commemorate our wonderful eight years in the trailer we Kelty (lil sis #2) decided to throw one last shindig!

Thus was born the White Trash Trailer Bash.
We're a fine class of human beings...
....complete with tang pong, croquet, cut-offs...
...burnt hot dogs, twinkies, funyuns, KFC....
...hair rollers, and one cheez puff covered baby.

How was your weekend?

Feature Friday

Thank goodness it's Friday, right?

So I have a question for all you awesome bloggers.

For the past week or so I haven't been able to leave comments on your blogs. boo.  Whenever I go to leave a comment it asks for word verification or for me to sign in, then blogger directs me back to my gmail sign-in page. I follow it's directions like a good lil' student until it keeps asking me to log in AGAIN, and AGAIN, and AGAIN-- all the while never posting my comments.

I want to scream I tell ya. Scream. Scream. Scream.

I really love to leave comments so I was wondering if any of you are having this problem too?

Any troubleshooting solutions?

So, as for the projects below, I didn't leave comments on your projects and I am so sorry. But know that they are rock and if I ever figure out this problem I will be sure to come back to your page and leave some Halsey Love for ya.

Yarn chevron wall art- Tattered and Inked

Coffee table makeover- Persia Lou

"Thank you Teacher" ruffle pouches- Sew Chic & Unique

Candelabra turned jewelry stand-We Love Lucy Michaela

Thank you ladies for the lovely projects!

And as a small reminder, this house will be checking out for the next few days so we can start our Family Technology Detox.

I haven't told Hunk yet,  if he knew he would find every reason in the book not to do it. He may have a heart attack when I tell him that he has to miss watching Round 3 of the Mavs and Heat.

:)

Opposites attract

posted on: Thursday, June 2, 2011

Fact: opposites attract.
Fact two: opposites attract, then decide that they should get married, then realize they are opposites after all the papers have been signed.
Fact three: opposites get married, fight like cats and dogs, decide to bring a spawn into the world, still realize they are opposites, but still love each other even though they don't agree with the others habits.
Fact four: Hunk and I are opposites.

Case in point:
He loves meat, I love vegetables.
I cry at chick flicks, he likes movies with guns, explosions, and lots of killing.
He falls asleep at dinner, I stay up 'til one.
I resemble an oompa loompa, he resembles a string bean.
He likes rap, I love country.
I sleep on my back, he sleeps on his stomach.
He takes cold showers, I take steamin' hot showers.
He loves winter, I love palm trees.
I fight emotionally, he fights objectively.
I love Grey's, he loves 24.
I big puffy heart love Mac, he loves PC.
He puts the cap on the tooth paste, I leave it off.
I think Mexico is a vacation, he thinks Alaska is a great getaway.
He loves math, I love english.
I read books, he reads the cereal box.
I like hoarding, he likes throwing away.
He snores. 'nuf said.
I like parties, he hates parties.
I love healthy food, he loves pizza and chips.

Pizza.

It has always been an issue in our house. I prefer the all vegetable kind, while he lives for every animal on the planet to be on top of his pizza.

*blehk*

I am by no means a vegetarian just so ya'll know. I love myself a good steak, but there is something about an all meat pizza that makes my stomach do somersaults.

So to advert the problem of fighting over who gets the choose what type of pizza we eat we have started to make mini pizzas that fit our personal tastes.

These babies are delish my friends.
We have a little trick where we mix parm and mozzerella together and it creates a cheesy goodness that is to die for.
The most important ingredient, though,  is the crust. We buy either flatbread shells (like above) or pitas.
I started using pita shells after I bought Jess Seinfield's Deceptively Delicious cookbook. If you don't have it, go. get. it. now.

It's how I fool Hunk into eating vegetables.

Now I must retire to a dreamy world where I can enjoy my cheesy goodness at 10:30...in the a.m.
