really?

Punk was being really quiet which is always a scary thing.
And then I heard a muffled cry.
I searched high and low.
Under the bed,
In the basement,
By my bed.
In his closet.
You know all the places that he seems to get drawn to.
Then I thought maybe the noise was coming from the kitchen.
So as I opened up the lazy susan door this is what I found.
Really, do I need to say more?

Who wants Punk for a day? Any takers?

Going on a mini-vacay with Punk and the little sisters is always an adventure--luckily at least one of knows how to read a map.

;)

Remember the table clothe-to-rug tutorial from last week? While in Utah I found a fun table clothe and I can't wait to show it off, until then here are some of my favorite projects from last week!

Enjoy!

Feature Friday

In T-minus 10 minutes I will be loading Punk in the car and hitting the road to get to Utah for my Grammy's Birthday. She's turning the big 8-0.

She's a sassy little thing that  knows more about American Idol, People magazine, and celebrity gossip then most young adults.

Yeah, she's that hip.

And, speaking of hip, I just came across the coolest project ever. No joke. This project is so awesome that I am chomping at the bit to get to Utah so I can do some serious shopping.

Before I unveil the coolest project ever let me pose a scenario. How many times have you gone rug shopping? Do you often fret and stay up late at night searching to find the right rug? Do you cringe at the price of most rugs? Does your husband about have a heart attack when you tell him that the rug you are drooling to own only costs $299 (on sale)?

Well, if you answered "yes" to any of these questions then do I have they coolest tutorial for you!

Laura, from Design Sponge, not only created a rug out of a table clothe, but she has saved the wallets of husbands everywhere.

Yeah, that is the before mentioned table clothe turned rug. Pretty sweet, huh?

Check out Laura's tutorial , give her some love, and get you rug on!

Rosette Bib Necklace

posted on: Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Rosette bib necklaces have been around for.ever.

Part of me feels like they have come and gone. Oh well--I still enjoy wearing mine.

I wanted to show you my trade secrets for making your own rosette bib necklace--since I am no longer making them for my etsy shop.
 ahhhhh, isn't she a beaut???

What you'll need:
fabric
glue
felt
bead necklace (Mardi Gra style is the best)
pearls or rhinestones

First, cut your fabric into 1 1/4 inch strips. Length isn't really a big deal.

 Capache?

Trade secret #1: When gluing the rosettes make sure to place the glue at the bottom of the fold, that way  if the glue starts come out it will come out of the bottom and not out of the top of the rosette.

Once all the rosettes have been made lay them out on the piece of felt to create your design.

Once you have a design then begin to glue each rosette to the felt.

Trade Secret #2: On the top two rosettes only put glue on the bottom half of the rosette, the top half will be glued when attaching the beads.
Once all the rosettes have dried then cut out around the necklace.

Now glue in between each rosette-- his will help to make the bib "stiff."

Now comes the fun part.

Find fun Mardi Gra beads--I like using vintage necklaces that I can cut in half.
I then take each half and glue them in between the rosette and the felt.

 See?

Then I glued small swarovsky rhinestones to the center of each rosette to give the necklace a little bling bling.

Simple n' easy my friends.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Edward Scissorhands...

posted on: Monday, August 1, 2011

Lately I have been so consumed with motherhood, work, and day-to-day activities that I have kind of let myself go.

Oh my gosh saying that makes me sound so old. hahahaha.

wow.

More specifically, I have let my hair go.

It's become so unmanagable that it is not uncommon for my hair to stay pulled back in a ponytail for days--I'm pretty certain that Edward Scissorhands would be in heaven if he had a chance to cut my hair.

I.am.not.exaggerating.
Told ya...

So last week I had my sis-in-law work her magic on my hair, she's a miracle worker I tell ya.

Two hours later, lots of dye, and 30 minutes under the "heat" machine made me presentable enough for Hunk to take me out in public.

And my sweet sis-in-law also added a little somethin' somethin' to make my hair hip and cool.

I hear feathers are the new rage, Hunk says I look like a peacock. Obviously, we have different ideas when it comes to fashion sense.

Wowzers.

I think I may also regret posting this picture in the morning too.
